When a family secret is revealed

May 18, 2014
We all have our own personal stories. The story that makes up our life to the present. But, what if you find out at some point down the road that much of what you believed to be true…isn't?
Rebecca and I heard Suzan's incredibly candid story about what she came to find out about her conception and genetic origins. Being a doctor and a person of science, Suzan possesses a natural curiousity and desire to find out everything she can about a time that was not documented.

We’re The Kids In America

February 26, 2014

This week, we talked to Padmaja, a first-time mom from India living with her little girl and husband in the Seattle area. As a mom of a daughter myself, our conversation with her got me thinking, once again, about the “princess culture” unique to our country.

Building a Family

December 10, 2013

We are proud to present our two part series these next few weeks about “building a family”. Amanda absolutely captivated us when we talked to her at Mamacon 2013.

Her open, gracious and humble style so beautifully illustrates what it means to be a family. When dealing with this or any issue, we feel that it’s so important to hear stories like our own…..to know that someone else got to the other side and not always in the way that they dreamed of.

From Hawaii, to Vietnam and finally to the Seattle area, Amanda retells the story of bringing all of the pieces of her family together.

A Year of Perspective

November 12, 2013

As the holidays quickly approach, we all think about family and travel- either to get to or away from it!

Our story this week comes from author, world-traveler and dad-John Higham.

Moms Who Drink and Swear

November 4, 2013

We first met Nikki Knepper two and a half years ago at our first Mamacon conference in Bellevue, WA. She’s made the trek from the mid-west to the northwest twice now to talk about her blog and her latest book. Nikki, a Chicago girl born and raised, is one of a few very successful mommy bloggers (think major book deal).

New Home for Homefront Chronicles

October 24, 2013

We are thrilled to have a new "home" for all of our Homefront Chronicles short segments, longer shows, pictures and musings. For the very first time we get to blog regularly about the awesome people we meet and record and the fascinating topics we research for our pieces.
